McClusky School district proceeds on football co-op

By Allan Tinker

Superintendent Gaillord Peltier received a 5-0 go-ahead to proceed with discussing a co-op for football with Turtlae Lake-Mercer School district, to start when the current football co-op expires. The 2009 cross-country co-op plans are already in process, with just a date adjustment to the applications already done, for the next year. The plan needs to be submitted before the state meet in October. The co-op application for this year failed because of the lateness of the application, stated Principal Dan Klemisch, also Athletic Director for the school. Peltier also brought proposed changes to the re-alignment of schools for girls and boys basketball and volleyball for the next year. Peltier noted that the boys’ season is proposed to start earlier and the girls’ basketball season to start later, giving the girls a break between volleyball season end and the beginning of basketball. The opposite is now in effect, with the boys’ season starting late.
