Memorial Day programs held in heavy area rainfall

Memorial Day, May 25, barely saw light through the heavy mist and rain that fell. The wetness put a damper on both flag display and outdoor plans for families and visitors to the memorial services in the area.
A special tribute to Harold Jenner, with photos of his Rough Rider Honor Flight with daughter Rosemary Morrison, Robinson, to Washington, D. C. was delayed by his medical emergency to Bismarck on Friday. His oldest daughter, Aileen Erdmann of Turtle Lake, presented opening remarks and details on her father’s and sister Rosemary continued the slide presentation and dialogue for that trip.
Jenner had enjoyed the two-day trip, arriving on May 8 and returning home on May 9. Morrison recalled the various places they saw and the emotions involved in the men who had served their country so well during World War II and later.
She explained the various memorials and monuments they visited and the significance of ceremonies and people they met.
The Honor Flight is a donation-paid for event, costing many thousands of dollars for each trip carrying veteran’s to Washington, D. C. She emphasized that no taxpayer money is used for these trips.
