Merchants review Fest plans and Ranch Rodeo request

Merchants review Fest plans and Ranch Rodeo request

The McClusky Merchants Association members reviewed the plans for the Midsummer Fest at their June 25 meeting at the Union Grill. All is in process, some a bit less structured than others, but as one member laughingly stated, “Flying by the seat of our pants is what we do best.”
“Lots of calls on the parade and for booths at the park,” stated Merchants President Jeff Martwick. “Security at the dance at Hoffer Lake would be Jeff Hultberg from Washburn,” he added.
Ms Becky’s would be selling food at the dance, Martwick also stated.
Martwick introduced Joe Nelson, appropriately wearing a cowboy hat, who asked for a donation to help cover the costs of the Ranch Rodeo planned for July 20 at 6 pm at Hoffer Lake.
“We are hoping for 12 teams, with 100 percent payback for the team fees,” Nelson stated. “ The Rodeo is fashioned around what ranchers do for their work. “The competitions include roping steers, bulldogging, branding, and wild cow milking (this one brought a smile from those who had personal experience with cow milking).
The milker must rope and catch the cow, milk enough to have at least two drops worth to take to the judge, and then not spill it.
There will also be loading steers to trailers and off, loading and unloading horses. There are two teams at a time and four members on a team.
