Midsummer fest plans in motion

The planned events for the McClusky Midsummer Fest are subject to change but these events are among those that are currently scheduled to be held one of the two days of the celebration. The Midsummer Fest will be held Friday and Saturday, July 16 and 17. Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to help in any of the events. Please contact event coordinator Tracy Stein or any of the people listed with an event for further information.
Friday evening: 6 p.m.: Co-ed softball game: Jim Crimmins 363-2687; 9 p.m.: Street Dance “The Keystones” on Main Street; 10:30 p.m. or dusk: fireworks at the ball diamond.
Saturday: 9 a.m. Registration for the Big Parade (organized by the McClusky Lions Club); Contact Jeff Martwick for more info 363-2259; 10:30 a.m. Parade Kiddie Parade (sponsored by SCiPY) starting by Mechanics Plus; 11 a.m. Big Parade (starting at St. John’s Lutheran Church).
Noon, 12 p.m.: Free Lunch in the Park
Craft and Flea Market in the Park and vendors of all kinds. (You are welcome to set up your goods and wares free of charge. Contact Tracy Stein, 363-2956).
Grace Lutheran Church will have their usual taco in the bag ready for all to enjoy.
At 1:30 p.m.: The 3rd Annual Bed Races along West 2nd Street in front of the Parkview apartments. Defend your titles, get your teams together and we will see you there! Challengers are most welcome.
5 p.m.: Supper will be served at City Hall (proceeds to go towards the baby pool).
7 p.m.: Music “The Prairie Gospel Quartet”” in the City Park. Please bring your own chairs or blankets for seating. Benches are limited.
