New brush truck improves grass fire response time

By ALLAN TINKER
A new brush truck was recently added to the well-maintained fleet of firefighting trucks used by the McClusky Fire Department and organized Fire District.
Richard Bentz, president of the board of directors for the district, and Fire Department Chief Jeff Martwick, were equally enthused over the acquisition of the Chevrolet  truck, which allows quick response for fire calls.
Bentz stated that 90 percent of their calls are for grass and field fires and the other trucks are often too big and too heavy to get to the site of these fires, especially in rural areas.
With up to date chemicals, water supply, powerful pumps, and guard gates for firefighter containment while in a moving truck, the addition of this well-equipped truck is likely to quickly earn its keep.
