It was a day for dads and their kids, with a few moms in the mix as well. Before heading to a home-cooked meal for the day, a large crowd gathered at South Hoffer Lake to challenge the fish in the waters.
Boats, bigger boats and fishing from the dock and shore were all a part of the fun. It was good family fun with cooperating weather, making this a sunny spot in memories as well as weather.
Winners in the adult division from last year returned to claim honors again, only to find it tough going. Children also turned out to show that they can catch fish with the best of them, some requiring a battle to land. They will likely be back if they can, the fish and fishing are just getting better each year.
McClusky Sportsman’s Club held their 2013 Father’s Day Fishing Derby on Sunday June16 at Hoffer Lake from 7am to11am. The day opened cool and cloudy and rapidly warmed to very comfortable fishing conditions. There were 42 contestants.
Tournament officials Darrell Bertsch and Tina Majors were kept busy tracking and dispensing honors, information and money. A necessary part of all derbies was ANS Inspection Official -Steven Haux.
