School board approves board resignation

By ALLAN TINKER

With a great deal of concern for the health of their fellow board member, the McClusky School District board members heard the Phyllis Dieterle letter of resignation as read by Brian Larson.

With health issues interfering with regular attendance, Dieterle had been attending via phone conference for several months. With a third absence from the meetings, Dieterle chose to resign rather than cause any hardship to the business of running the school district to the best interests of the students and all concerned. "I feel I cannot do all I feel I should do," she added.

Dieterle had been the board’s MREC representative for several years and served as vice-president as well. She also served on several other board committees as well as taking an active role in other community activities, in particular where they involved children and family.

All of her and husband Myron’s children graduated from McClusky High School. Her statement was one of "what is best for the children" at all times.

The board approved the resignation, 3-0, and will put out a search for someone willing to fill the at-large position that Dieterle vacates. If no one is appointed, a special election may be held. The position would last until the next regular election; then be on the ballot for the remaining years of that particular seat.

An individual who resigns may be re-appointed by the board to fill the vacancy.

Packets for application for the seat were handed out and the position will be advertised.
