School election offers challenge to city seat

By ALLAN TINKER
Roberta Hunt is the lone challenger on the ballot for the city seat on the McClusky School District board of directors.
She faces incumbent Ben Wagner in the June 14 election.
Hunt noted that she wanted to define her run for the seat as one seeking to see that kids get the best education possible, with the best curriculum. Cutting teachers is not the answer, she said, as we need to have opportunities and choices in classes for the students.
Hunt sees the need for basics in the elementary classroom, with computer fundamentals available for the students. “They need to develop the basic skills early and correctly. They might learn bad habits otherwise and have to relearn good skills when they are in the upper classes if they don’t learn them when they are younger.”
“School improvement is important, also,” said Hunt. “Good follow up on the ideas and problems is also critical.”
