School receives three resignations

School receives three resignations

By ALLAN TINKER
Three staff turned in their resignations to the McClusky School District Board members at their May 11, regular monthly meeting. Sandra Wisdom, Arlington Helm, and Bob Stefonowicz have resigned for various reasons. Helm has served as bus driver since 1976.
Supt. Kelm requested payment for unused sick and personal leave to cover additional time until the end of the school term. He stated his retirement rules limit the number of paid hours that he can earn within a school year.
Phyllis Dieterle gave a short report on the MREC and the drastic reduction and election of officers to serve the districts. A large number had proven difficult to conduct business with the necessary quorum, which prompted the reduction to a more manageable number (13). She added that Patti Bayless of Turtle Lake was the new region representative for this area.
The Home School Policy third reading was given and the policy approved 5-0.
Two days of pre-school may be funded, with Lonetree as a participant. The position has been advertised. There will be no cost to the district for the program.
There are currently only two, with a possible third student, for the program. The following year the numbers jump to seven or eight, said Kelm.
