Goodrich High School got a head start and got lucky with the weather for their 2013 graduation. The sky looked ominous but rain held off, raining hard later in the day.
Inside the Goodrich School gymnasium, baccalaureate was held, starting promptly at 2 p.m. The welcome was given by Salutatorian Amber Anderson, and the prayer by Father Thomas Krupich, who was also the featured speaker.
The audience joined in singing “He Touched Me” and “His Eye is on the
Sparrow,” with a room full of voices and accompaniment by Ladonna Erdmann.
Graduation followed just a short time later, with the alumni band under the direction of Erdmann, providing the processional music.
Amber Anderson gave the salutatory address, giving a stellar performance, with her mother unable to be there due to unforeseen circumstances. The class sang “Whenever You Remember,” and presented roses to chosen family, friends and other special people in their lives. The class video, with humor, music and insights into the lives of the seniors, provided quality entertainment, even for the very young in the audience. Everyone knew the pets, family love, and friends each student had in his or her life.
Megan Mauch gave the valedictory address, urging her class mates to make the most of life, “setting themselves on fire” to obtain success. Several awards were presented to seniors, with varying
dollar amounts, by Dollars for Scholars, Choice Financial, and various other entities.
