Stober recognized for membership and life of service

Goodrich farmer and military veteran Paul Stober served in the US Army from February 1951 to February 1953, with one year in Korea. He received the Korean Service Medal with two BSS; the United Nations Service Medal lo/s Bar; and a Commendation Ribbon/Metal Pendant. Stober achieved the rank of Technical Sargent and was honorably discharged Feb 3, 1953.
Outside of his military service and his 60 years of continuous membership in the American Legion and his home post in Goodrich, Stober has also set an example in his home community.
The couple has six children: John (Stephanie), Linda (Steve) Opp, Dan (LaSetta) Stober, Chuck, Andy (Brenda) and Kristi (Marv) Treu; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
They have lived on the family farm, which son John continues as the fourth generation, all of their married lives. Paul came home to take over the farm after his military service from his parents Ed and Freida Stober. He has two sisters and his grandparents were homesteaders in the Goodrich area and a house on the Stober farm is more than 100 years old.
Donovan, John’s son, comes home from Bismarck to help continue the farming enterprise.
A “faithful Christian” according to Winnie, he served as a deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher in the Goodrich Baptist Church. Paul served on the local Goodrich School board as well as the local elevator board.
