Sue made a differance

By GABLE RHOADS

After 30 years of vaccinations, health screenings, public education and other duties too numerous to list, County Health Nurse Susan "Sue" Ebach has retired.

"I’m not going to cry," Ebach said as County Commissioner Howard Erdmann presented appreciation gifts at her retirement dinner.

She read from a framed print, a gift from coworkers: "Each day is another opportunity for God to guide us to make a difference is someone else’s life"

"You made a difference here at the courthouse," Shirley Murray responded.

"Stop it," Ebach replied with emotion.

The second gift was a beautiful crystal serving bowl. Ebach remarked she could use the bowl at her next buffet.

Ebach reflected on her time at the courthouse as she thanked everyone. ‘"These thirty years have gone by like the blink of an eye. My husband (Don) probably doesn’t think so… It’s been a long time. I’ve made a lot of friends. I’ll miss my job."

Ebach and those gathered laughed as she reminisced, "I’ve had the sheriff and deputy sheriff undress for me. That was awesome, but they stopped at their pants, which was too bad."
