Summerfest aims to bring community together
A summer tradition generations in the making will return to McClusky as the Sheridan County Civic Club hosts the second annual Summerfest, continuing a celebration that has long served as a homecoming for families, friends and former residents.
While the event is now known as Summerfest, the celebration has evolved through several names over the years. It was once known as Old Settler’s Day before becoming MidSummer Fest under the direction of local merchants. Today, the Sheridan County Civic Club has taken on the responsibility of carrying the tradition forward.
The civic club, one of the largest organizations in McClusky with 14 members, has dedicated significant time and effort to planning this year’s festivities. Organizers say the event provides an opportunity for family reunions, class reunions and community members to reconnect while enjoying food, entertainment and fellowship.
Tracy Stein, who has been involved with the celebration for many years, said she hopes the event will encourage people to return to the community and help revive the atmosphere that once filled the city park during the height of MidSummer Fest.
Civic Club member Alexis Bauer said the organization is focused on creating opportunities for community engagement throughout the year and believes Summerfest offers something for everyone.
