Veterans claims system approved, courthouse repairs continue

Sheridan County commissioners approved participation in a statewide veterans claims system and received updates on courthouse repairs, election expenses and drought conditions during their Sept. 1 regular meeting.
Commissioners approved a memorandum of agreement with the North Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs that will allow Veterans Service Officer Kristine Ell to access the VetraSpec ND State Solution. The secure system is used nationwide for electronically filing veterans' medical claims and carries an annual cost of $566.86.
The board also reviewed ongoing repairs to the courthouse community room floor. Officials reported the old concrete floor had been removed and a new floor poured. After approximately 30 days of curing time, additional grinding, sealing and coloring work is expected to be completed later this fall.
