West River Transit to offer local pick up and drop off transportation

By ALLAN TINKER
Good news for McClusky’s weary shoppers; transportation will be better at least one day per week, starting on Jan. 6.
Faye Stein stated “West River Transit will pick up interested people and take them uptown in McClusky to do business, or to Turtle Lake. This service will start Wednesday, Jan. 6.”
If anyone needs a ride, they may call Stein at 363-2655 by Tuesday night. Pick-up starts at 9 a.m. from homes. The cost is $3.
Stein stated that the Turtle Lake shuttle service will continue until there is a grocery store in McClusky.
West River Transit (WRT), a not-for-profit corporation based in Bismarck, serves the general public through its services, operating 14 buses, which are all wheel chair accessible. Those riders who need a medical escort need to inform the driver; the escort may ride for no charge.
Fares vary by route, and the service currently serves six counties, not including the new stop in Sheridan County in McClusky.
The Transit currently also provides service to Bismarck and Minot on a regular schedule, with the closest to McClusky boarding place for these routes currently in Turtle Lake. These routes have differing schedules so check with the Transit person in your area, or their website, for the route information for your area.
After you have made a reservation, if you no longer need the transportation, please inform the driver immediately, so they do not make unnecessary stops. 24-hour advance notice is recommended.
Curbside service is provided for all homes but West River Transit does not deliver goods into individual homes and also requires timeliness when the bus arrives, in order to prevent schedule delays.
