Wheat harvest ahead of state average despite rain

By ALLAN TINKER
Despite the rain, allowing just two days in the past week for field work, Sheridan County farmers were still ahead of the state average of wheat acreage harvested, according to Sheridan County Extension Agent Nicole Wardner.
Wardner added, that if the rain was not accompanied by hail, most farmers were okay on weather damage from dampness.
Canola is straight combined and is out yet, soybeans are now just turning and there is a “potential for a decent yield,” added Wardner.
