Coyotes lose in one of two Trojan district wins

The Turtle Lake-Mercer Trojans volleyball team picked up two district wins this past week. Tuesday night, the girls defeated the Cardinals of Washburn in three straight games: 25-16, 25-7 and 25-10. Thursday night the Trojans swept the Sheridan County Coyotes 25-20, 25-5 and 25-18.
Jordyn Sondrol again was the lead in kills with 10. Jenna Bayless served up eight aces. At one point in game two, Bayless put down four consecutive aces. Rachel Hanson handed out 18 assists.
Leaders for Sheridan County were Kimberly Tkach: 6 kills; Karissa Erdmann: 12 digs; Kimberly Tkach: 4 aces; Neilie Dockter: 27 assists; and Jacy Hausauer: 6 blocks.
Trojans 3-Coyotes 0
Game one saw the Coyotes take a 7-3 lead on a kill from Karissa Erdmann and a kill from Kimberly Tkach. A long kill, shot out of bounds from the Coyotes, made the score 7-4. Rachel Hanson served up triple aces to tie the score at seven.
Jacy Hausauer put the Coyotes up 10-8 with a pair of kills. Jenna Bayless tied the game at 10 with a kill and put the Trojans up 13-11 with a kill. Then it was a battle between Bayless and Tkach as each put down three kills. Devon Belisle gave the Trojans a slight lead, 17-15, with a kill.
The Trojans were whistled for too many hits to tie the game at 18. Three consecutive kills from Sondrol put the Trojans up 21-18. Kills from Belisle and Bayless ended the first game at 25-20.
Game two saw the Trojans jump to a 10-0 lead. Jenna Bayless scored five aces in that rally. A kill from Erdmann was the only offensive point for the Coyotes in game two. Sondrol scored the last three points of the game with a pair of aces and a back-row kill for a 25-5 win.
