District 10 girls make history

BY ALYSSA MEIER
For the first time in over 20 years, the Region 5 girls basketball championship came down to two teams from District 10. When Wilton-Wing and Center-Stanton girls hit the court at the Region 5 championship game in Mandan last week, the teams were not only vying for a title, but making history. The game would be the first in over 20 years that featured two District 10 teams duking it out for the Region 5 title. The last occurrence would have been in a Garrison versus Washburn game in 1999. Roughly 16 years before, Wilton and Washburn did battle for Region 5, with Wilton and Max in the title game in 1977.
