Holsteins stop Trojans

The Holsteins from New Salem/Almont defeated the Trojans 3-0 in non-district play Tuesday night. The Trojans overall record is three wins and six losses.

In district play, they stand at one win and one loss. The next three matches for the Trojans will be district matches: Oct. 7th the Trojans are on the bus to Garrison; Oct. 14th the Miners from Wilton/Wing will be on the Trojans home court; and on Oct. 21st the Trojans travel to Underwood.

Katelynn Presser led the Trojans with 10 kills. Madison Kurle recorded 21 digs and Zoe Smalls 10 assists.

Abby Hulm led the Holsteins with eight kills.

The Holsteins took a 9-3 lead to start the first set. McKayla Kautzman scored a pair of aces and McKenzie Kuhn put down a pair of kills for the Holsteins’ points.

Katelynn Presser started a 5-0 run for the Trojans with a pair of kills. Katie Andrus added a kill and Tasha Williams posted a pair of aces as the Trojans cut the Holsteins lead to 9-8.

Kills from Presser and Andrus, and an ace from Madison Kurle, kept the Trojans close.

A kill from Tatum Fylling tied the set at 19. An ace from Zoe Small put the Trojans in front 20-19 and a tip for a point from Williams put the score at 21-19 Trojans.
