Holsteins stop Trojans in overtime

The New Salem/Almont Holsteins stopped the Trojans from advancing farther in Region 5 play with a 55-49 over-time win Monday night at Mandan High School.
Other quarter final games saw Washburn defeat Shiloh Christian 69-28; Standing Rock defeated Max 98-52; and Grant County defeated Garrison 64-38.
In semi-final action Tuesday night, Washburn plays Standing Rock and Grant County takes on New Salem/Almont.
Kim Tkach and Chloe Bayless each had a double-double. Tkach scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Bayless scored 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Jacy Hausauer also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Karly Schroeder was the scoring leader for the Holsteins with 18 points, Emily Wolf pulled down 19 rebounds.
Kim Tkach scored all six of the Trojans’ first quarter points. The Holsteins scored a triple a double and four free throws to take a 9-6 first quarter lead.
The second quarter started with Karly Schroeder getting a steal and score for the Holsteins to make the score 11-6 in the Holsteins’ favor at the 7:43 mark.
