Imperials reign on Cougar parade

By Suzanne Werre, Editor

The Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter Imperials showed they were kings of the gridiron Friday night, as they rolled over the home-standing Central McLean Cougars by the score of 32-16.

The defense just didn’t do its job, summed up Cougar head coach Kevin Dockter.

"They’re a good team, and I knew they were a good team, but . . . poor tackling . . . and then Marshall (LeRoy) got hurt in the second quarter and we had to sub a little bit more.

"But number one, we needed to tackle better," he added.

The Cougars also missed a couple key opportunities to advance the ball when a couple passes went in and out of the receiver’s hands.

"We missed a couple of opportunities by dropping those passes. All that stuff adds up," said Dockter. "Between poor tackling and having some people nicked up – but at the same time when you play against a good team you start finding out where your flaws are and there are obviously some things we need to work on."

Then first half of the game, the Cougars were able to go play-for-play with the Imperials.
