Lakers girls hold off Cougars

By Suzanne Werre

The Cougars played a marathon game of softball Monday night against the Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers as the softball game went into extra innings before the Lakers were able to pull out the 14-13 win.

The Cougars made a battle out of a game that started to look like it would be an easy win for the Lakers early on, as the Cougars were held scoreless the first three innings while DLB crossed the plate seven times.

The Cougars rallied the next few innings to tie the game at 10, neither team scoring in the eighth or ninth innings. The Lakers iced the win by outscoring Central McLean 4-3 in the 10th inning.

Earlier in the week, the Cou-gars finished a double-header at 1-1 against the Lakers, while they won both ends of a double-header with Wilton-Wing 12-9 and 20-10.
