Lifeguard applications soar

By ALLAN TINKER
With six new applicants for lifeguard training and work, along with three returning lifeguards, the park board worked on scheduling the needed certification sites and schedules.
Also, to be considered, was the age of each new applicant to be sure they would be qualified to certify and also meet the age for actual duties. Returning lifeguards are Jayce Lauer, Hayden Lauer, and Tyson Foley. New applications were received from Daphne Lauer, Kayne Rhoads, Lyndsey Abrahamson, Micayla Wahl, Brayden Lauer, and Lily Bobbins.
Amber Scheurer was reported to say she would consider managing the pool but could not be a lifeguard, citing health limitations. She could serve as Certified Pool Operator (CPO) after obtaining the 5-year accreditation training. Last year’s CPO had not shown up for duties as agreed. COVID issues were a likely cause but not verified. Tracy Stein, board president, noted that the water loss in the pool is likely from the cutters along 99 percent of the walls.
