Skyhawks trip Trojans
Singer Region 5 Senior Athlete of the year

The Bismarck Shiloh Chris-tian Skyhawks shut down the Turtle Lake Mercer McClusky Trojans, 32-31, in the championship game of Region 5 Thursday night. With the win, the Skyhawks advance to the State Class B tournament in Minot March 18-20.
Grant Singer was named 2010 Region 5 Senior Athlete of the Year.
Trevor Thomas and Grant Singer were named to the 2010 All Region 5 team. Other members of the team are Jeff Rasmussen, Washburn; Lorin St. Claire, Wilton/Wing; Shae Brown, Center/Stanton; Jarad Wolf and Jared Kautzman, New Salem; Austin Friesen, Shiloh Christian; Kendrick Eagle, Solen; Christian Iron Shield, Standing Rock.
Trevor Sinclair of Washburn was named 2010 Region 5 Coach of the year.

Grant Singer was the only scorer in double figures for either team with 11 points. Austin Friesen was the Skyhawks’ top scorer with nine points.
The Trojans were going after their third straight trip to the State B tournament but the Shiloh Christian Skyhawks had other plans for them. The Skyhawks grabbed the opening tip and decided to just sit on the ball until the 3:22 mark when Zane Miller got loose for a bucket and take a 2-0 lead. Each team then had a turnover and missed shot.
Tucker Fylling got the Tro-jans on the board just before the quarter ended with a short turnaround jumper to make it 2-2 at the end of one.
The Trojans tried to pick up the pace in the second quarter as Trevor Thomas and Shane Nelson both put down triples for the Trojans to take an 8-2 lead at the 7:15 mark.
Austin Friesen then scored a triple and a free throw for the Skyhawks to make it 8-6, Trojans.
