Sports Boosters put on tasty show

By RICHELLE PRESSER

Athletes and members of the Turtle Lake-Mercer/McClusky Sports Boosters put on quite a feast and a little pancake flipping show at their first ever “Meet the Trojans” pancake and ham feed and fundraiser.
The intent of the event was not only to serve as a fundraising event, it was also a way for the community and athletes and their coaches to get to meet one another.
The athletes were said to have done a large portion of the work for the event, which included preparing the meal as well as serving and clean up afterwards.
The mouth-watering event was held Nov 24 at the Turtle Lake-Mercer School cafeteria and cost only $6 per adult and $4 for students/children age 10 and under for all they could eat. Serving began around 9 am and finished around 1 pm, filling nearly 100 plates.
Not only were they serving up a delicious pancake meal, the group also had double-sided yard signs available for sale at $15 each, serving a dual purpose. One side cheers for the Cougars, the other for the Trojans. One sign, two mascots. A win, win!
