Trojan netters win/lose

BY TIM HANSON

The Trojans picked up a 3-0 district win over Washburn Tuesday night at Washburn. The win put the Trojans at one win and zero losses so far in district play.

Thursday night at Towner/Granville/Upham, the Trojans lost 3-1 to the Titans. The Trojans are at three wins and four losses in the regular season.

The Trojans grabbed an 11 to 2 lead to start the first set against the Cardinals. Only three points were from the offense: an ace from Zoe Smalls and a kill from Tatum Fylling and a kill from Kylee Reiser.

Three consecutive errors on the Trojans closed the gap to 11-5 before Katelynn Presser got a tip for a point to put the Trojans up 12-5.

A back-row kill from Brandin Holznagel and an ace from Carly Freeman of the Cardinals cut the Trojans’ lead to 12-7.

The Cardinals stayed close as the Trojans tried to increase their lead with a kill and block from Fylling and an ace from Presser.

The Cardinals countered with a pair of kills from Kenady Hansen.
