Trojans battle Cossacks

BY TIM HANSON

The Cossacks from Max journeyed to Trojan territory Monday evening for a district 10 match. When the snow had melted, the fog had cleared and the dust had settled both the Cossacks and Trojans won a battle.

The first go around the girls took the court first and after thirty two minutes of play the score was knotted at 49.

The game started with one of the Cossacks leading scorers Kaylee Capp getting a put-back for two of her eleven points, but just seconds later the Trojans leading scorer Tasha Williams drove the lane for two of her game high twenty four points.

Other action the first quarter saw Kennedy Sondrol drain the second of her two three-pointers at the :36 mark to give the Trojans a 12-8 edge but at the nine second mark the Cossacks Cheyenne Jacobson put down a pair of free throws to close the gap to 12-10 Trojans as the first quarter ended.

The second quarter the Trojans faltered some and only scored a triple and a pair of free throws Mariah Sellon and a deuce from Victoria Goven.

The Trojans sent the Cossacks to the charity stripe six times where they made eight of twelve attempts.
