Trojans crush Cossacks

BY TIM HANSON
The Trojans took two from the Max Cossacks Monday night at Max in a district 10 double-header match-up.
The girls took the court first and Morgan Reiser was the top scorer for the Trojans with 26 points. Sophie Sparrow and Brooke Goven also scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively.
Lanie Wohlk was leading scorer for the Cossacks with 10 points.
The Cossacks struggled in the scoring department as the Trojans raced to a 24-0 lead.
The Trojans led at the end of the first quarter 14-0.
Second quarter action saw the Trojans defense hold the Cossacks scoreless until the 0:35 mark when Hope Scheresky scored on a drive from the right side to break the Cossacks scoring drought. Just seconds later Scheresky got a steal and scored to end the first half with the Trojans leading 24-4.
Third quarter action saw the Cossacks cut into the Trojans lead by getting back-to-back buckets twice but the Trojans still led 33-17 at the end of three.
Fourth quarter started with Reiser scoring six points and Sophie Sparrow two points for an 8-0 run. Wohlk ended the Trojans run with a three-point play but the Trojans answered with Reiser and Brooke Goven scoring a couple of buckets each as the Trojans coasted from there to win 51-24.
