Trojans eliminated in Region tournament

The Turtle Lake-Mercer McClusky Trojans were defeated by the Standing Rock Warriors 60-55 in the opening round of the Region 5 boys tournament at the Bismarck Civic Center Monday night.
Other first round games saw Washburn defeat Center/Stanton 50-39; Solen defeated Underwood 71-53; and Wilton/Wing defeated Shiloh Christian 60-50.
Semi-final action Tuesday night will have Washburn playing Solen and Wilton/Wing playing Standing Rock.
Tucker Fylling led the Trojans with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Adam Peltier also scored in double digits with 17 points and Kevin Klemisch tallied double figures in rebounds with 10.
Kerby St. John was the top scorer for the Warriors with 14 points.
The Trojans fell behind early but a deuce by Shane Nelson and a triple from Adam Peltier made the score 6-5 Warriors at the 4:15 mark of the first quarter.
A three-pointer from Kery St. John put the Warriors ahead, 8-5, at the 4:06 mark.
Fylling scored the next five points on a couple of short jumpers and a free throw to put the Trojans in front at the 1:44 mark 10-9.
The Warriors then went on a 7-0 run on three straight breakaways and a free throw to take a 16-10.
Nathan Rauhauser got a bucket at the 21-second mark to make the first quarter score 16-12 Warriors.
The Warriors got a 9-0 run on a triple from Jalen Steele and three straight breakaways from Kerby St. John to make the score 25-12 Warriors.
Fylling stopped the Warriors’ run with a short jumper from the paint at the 4:25 mark.
Marcus White Bull answered Fyllings’ score as he beat everyone down the floor for an easy bucket to make the score 27-14 at the 4:21 mark.
