Trojans move to Region 5 Tourney

The Trojans girls team defeated Washburn 39-33 in a region qualifying game Mon-day night. The Trojans will face Bismarck Shiloh Christian in the 3 o’clock game Monday March 10 at Mandan High School.

The other region qualifying game saw Garrison defeat Max 51-35 and Wilton/Wing defeated Underwood 61-53 for the championship.

Haley Zinke was placed on the 2014 District 10 All-Tournament team. Teammates include Jocelyn Bergquist and Heidi Clausen- Wil-ton/Wing; Abby Landenberger and Erin Dammann-Under-wood; Madeline Henke-Center/Stanton; Brooks Schroeder and Cheyenne Jacobson-Max; Ellie Gehring-Garrison; Heidi Scheetz- Washburn.

Trista Crimmins and Haley Zinke were placed on the 2014 All District 10 Team. Teammates include Taylor Kamp, Ellie Gehring and Madison Jaeger -Garrison; Abby Landenberger and Erin Dammann- Under-wood; Cheyenne Jacobson and Kaylee Capp-Max; Mandy Schell-Washburn; Madeline Henke- Center/Stanton; Jocelyn Bergquist- Wilton/Wing.

Senior Athlete of the Year went to Abby Landenberger from Underwood and Coach of the Year went to Sandra Essler from Garrison.

The Wilton/Wing Miners defeated the Trojans 53-45 in overtime the first game of the tournament Friday afternoon.

The Miners and Trojans played to an 11 all-tie to end the first quarter. A bucket from Paige Hausauer at the 3:01 mark of the second quarter put the Miners in front 20-13.

Haley Zinke got a triple at the 2:14 mark; a few seconds later she got a put-back to cut the Miners’ lead to 20-18.

The Miners answered with a deuce from Jocelyn Bergquist and one from Brianna Weisen-berger at the 0:46 mark.

Mariah Sellon countered with a double from the right corner as the buzzer sounded ending the first half. The Miners led at the break, 24-20.
