Trojans outlast Comets in 3-2 win

The Trojans of Turtle Lake-Mercer McClusky picked up a 3-2 win over the Underwood Comets Tuesday night at Underwood. The win puts the Trojans at three wins and zero losses in the regular season.
Next up for the Trojans will be Washburn Sept 13; Harvey Wells County Sept. 15; and Center Sept. 20; all on the home court.
Jacy Hausauer led the Trojans with 10 kills and Sabrina Rust dished out 23 assists
Leaders for the Comets were Anne Hefta and Abby Landenberger with six kills each and Sam Cottingham with nine assists.
The Comets took a 7-1 lead in game one. After a couple of Trojans’ long kill shots the Comets went up 10-4.
Back-to-back kills from Chloe Bayless cut the Comets’ lead to 10-7.
Taylor Fylling put down three consecutive aces to tie the game at 12.
Sabrina Rust assisted Haus-auer with a kill to put the Trojans in the lead 15-14.
A kill and a pair of aces from Abby Landenberger put the Comets in front 17-15.
The Comets held a slight lead to the end, winning the first game 25-23 on a net violation on the Trojans.
The Trojans jumped to a 10-2 lead in game two. Haley Zinke put down a pair of aces and a kill in that run.
A back-row kill and an ace from Taylor Gahner put the Trojans in front, 13-3.
The Comets picked up points on the Trojans when the Tro-jans had a number of long kill shots and serves in the net.
An ace from Taylor Sorenson and a kill from Landenberger tied the game at 19.
A kill from Bayless put the Trojans up 20-19 but a serve in the net tied the game at 20.
Back-to-back kills from Haus-auer and a four-hit from the Comets ended the game with the Trojans in front, 25-20
The Trojans had little trouble during the third game as they jumped out to a 7-1 lead. Hausauer and Fylling got kills in that run. The Comets picked up a couple of points on defensive errors on the Trojans but kills from Gahner and Fylling made the score 14-8.
