Troopers sweep Trojans

BY TIM HANSON

The Trojans were in Garrison for a double header Tuesday night and were on the short end of the score in both games.

The girls took the court first and had a hard time scoring as the Troopers raced to a 10-2 lead.

A triple from Mariah Sellon at the 5:46 mark cut the Troopers’ lead to 10-5 but the Troopers finished the quarter with a 13-2 run to lead, 23-7, at the end of one.

The scoring drought for the Trojans continued into the second quarter as they were not even getting any offensive rebounds.

The Troopers’ led 29-7 at the 4:40 mark of the second quarter after a triple from Ellie Gehring.

Tasha Williams finally stopped the Troopers’ run at the 3:50 mark with a base-line drive.

Kennedy Sondrol scored a triple as the first half ended to cut the Troopers’ lead to 31-15.

The Trojans tried to gain ground the third quarter with Morgan Reiser getting a couple of triples and Sondrol one. But, the Troopers managed to maintain their lead by going six for eight on free throws and getting a couple of triples to lead 47-31 at the end of three.

The fourth quarter started with Trista Crimmins scoring a deuce from the lane; Williams followed with a bucket from the base line. A few second later, Sellon got a steal and bucket to cut the Troopers’ lead to 47-37.

The Trojans matched the next three scores for the Troopers and, at the 3:56 mark, Crimmins scored on a drive to cut the lead to 53-45. Maddie Nieuwenhuis countered with a bucket on an inbounds play.
