Troopers sweep Trojans

BY TIM HANSON

The Trojans lost both games of the double header to the Garrison Tuesday night on the Trojans’ home court. The girls were on the short end of the score 56-52 and the boys 66-62.

The Trojans are 0-2 in district play for both boys and girls.

The Trojans have a double header at Washburn Jan. 16; a double header on the home court with Harvey/Wells County Jan. 18; and Jan. 21 is a double header with Underwood on the home court.

Kennedy Sondrol was the leading scorer for the Trojans with 24 points. Taylor Kamp led the Troopers with 16 points.

The first quarter saw very little scoring as the Trojans got a pair of free throws from Kennedy Sondrol and a field goal from Mariah Sellon for the Trojans four points. The Troopers got a free throw from Anna Larson and Maddie Jaeger got a pair of deuces and a triple to give the Troopers the edge at the end of one 8-4.

The Trojans tied the game at 10 after a couple drives to the buckets and scores from Sondrol.

A bucket from Brooklyn Ander-son from the right wing tied the game at 14. Just seconds later Sondrol got a steal and a bucket to put the Trojans in front 16-14 at the 3:26 mark.

The Troopers answered with a triple from Ellie Gehring and she was answered by Sondrol with a triple. A pair of free throws from Taylor Kamp tied the game at 19 with 2:08 remaining in the first half.

Sondrol put the Trojans in the lead with a drive across the lane for a bucket. But that was countered with a triple from Sarah Behles giving the Troopers the lead 22-21 at the 1:37 mark.
