Wilton-Wing squeezes Coyotes out of win

By ALLAN TINKER
The Wilton-Wing Miners edged out the Sheridan County Coyotes in overtime on Friday, Jan. 29. The game was a re-schedule from the winter storm the past Monday.
The game was tight all the way: the first quarter ended with an 8-7 split in favor of The Coyotes, with fouls at 5 (SC) and 3 (WWM) apiece. The second quarter ended at 20-12 still in the Coyote’s favor. The second half the game was tied at 34 and 36, with the game ending in a tie at 38-38.
Overtime stole the win from the Coyotes, slowly building an edge for the Miners, first at 41, then 42 over the Coyotes’ 38 points. The Coyotes managed another two-point gain, but the Miners put in another point to win, 43-40.
The last HOME games are Tuesday, Feb. 2 and Monday, Feb. 9. There is an away game on Feb. 5. These are the last games for the Coyotes girls team, as they will co-op with TL-M Trojans next year for basketball. Fans are encouraged to come and see these final games and support the effort of the small but feisty team of athletes that kept the team in town for this last season.
