The New Town Eagles and Parshall Braves headed in different directions this week as the Eagles competed in the Coca Cola Invitational in Dickinson and the Braves headed to Minot for the CNDC Indoor Invitational.
The Eagles boys’ team participated in the Dickinson Invitational meet for their first outdoor meet of the year. Eagles Head Coarch Brian Anderson said it was an excellent meet with great competition as there were eight WDA Class A teams there along with Watford City, Sidney, Dickinson Trinity and New Town.
The Eagles turned in seven state qualifying performances in the 4 distance races. The 3200 meter relay took first with a qualifying time of 8:18.57, well under the qualifying time of 8:35.0. In the 800 meter run, Chace Hale took third in 2:02.54, Robert White fifth in 2:02.81, and Colby Antell eighth in 2:05.63. Both Hale and White qualified for the state meet.
In the 1600 meter run, Chace Hale was fifth in 4:32.31, Jalen Chase sixth at 4:39.02, and Ryan Wheeling eighth in 4:40.69. Chace and Jalen both qualified by time in this one as well and Wheeling missed by half a second. Robert White and Jaiven Hale also ran well and missed the qualifying time by two seconds, finishing 10th and 11th in a very tough field of runners.
