Parshall’s push for a Class B tournament berth fell short Tuesday night in the Well at Williston State College when the New Town Eagles won over the Braves.
That sent Parshall into the third-place game Thursday night against the Watford City Wolves. Results of that game weren’t available at press time so look for full details in next week’s edition.
New Town 85, Parshall 64
Senior Cole Hendrickson, who is the last Parshall player from the 2007 squad that won the state Class B title, turned in a very solid performance Tuesday night, leading the Braves in scoring and keeping Parshall on the doorstep of this Region 8 semifinal game.
Hendrickson chipped in 21, scoring under the bucket, from outside, from the charity stripe and basically from all over the court, but it wasn’t enough. Jaren Enockson played a much better game than he did on Monday, adding 18 for the Braves and Dakota Deane was also in double figures against the Eagles with 11.
Harrison Zacher, Hunter Lafromboise, Brandon Bird Lying Down and Greg Oster also scored for the Braves.
Parshall’s best opportunity came in the second half. In fact, the Braves played even at 23-23 in the fourth, but it was too little too late as the Eagles had built what seemed like an unsurmountable lead in the first half.
