In what was billed as a top flight contest in District 15 boys basketball Saturday night in Parshall, the two teams didn’t disappoint a large crowd as the hometown Braves went on to defeat the New Town Eagles, 80-65.
Parshall placed eight players in the scoring column to help push the score. It was a balanced attack for head coach Derrick Hammonds who watched his team chip away from the sidelines until it was clear late in the game that the Braves would secure the win.
Jaren Enockson, who actually dunked two shots for four of his 21 points, led the Braves in scoring. Cole Hendrickson, who continues to consistently score in double digits, popped in 18, while Dakota Deane had a great night with 15. Greg Oster also hit double figures, scoring 12 in a very balanced attack. Hunter Lafromboise, Danny Wells and Brandon Bird Lying Down also scored for the Braves.
For New Town, junior Mike Young Bird led all scorers in a losing cause. Young Bird scored 24 and was followed by New Town spark plug Alex Baker, who added 15. Preston Smith also got into double figures with 13. Jeremiah Wells, David Miranda and Eric Smith also scored for the Eagles.
