Braves make it an even dozen

By Jerry W. Kram

The Parshall Braves boys basketball team increased their winning streak to 12 games with wins against the Stanley Blue Jays and the Tioga Pirates. The Blue Jays went down to defeat 69-52 and the Pirates abandoned ship with a score of 74-50.

Junior Deyondre Simpson went into the game needing 31 points to earn 1,000 for his career. The Braves fed him the ball early and by halftime he needed just 14 to break the mark. The Pirates didn’t make it easy as it became obvious the Braves were feeding the ball to Simpson. He found himself double teamed for most of the second half. He wound up getting most of his fourth quarter points from the free throw line, and scored points 1,000 and 1,001 from the charity stripe.
