Parshall head coach Mark Grueneich wasn’t sure what to expect before the 2009 football season got under way. He said there were a lot of changes in the off season and it was basically anyone’s game.
One thing he was sure of, however, was that his players had the drive in them to compete with every team in the league.
That became apparent Friday night when the Braves took their record to 2-0 with an exciting, 34-26 win at home against the Kenmare Honkers in front of a decent crowd.
It was razzle dazzle, well engineered plays, fundamental football and a little bit of luck that helped the Braves build up a 24-12 lead and plenty of momentum going into the second half.
Jaren Enockson opened the scoring with a one-yard scamper into the end zone to give the Braves a 6-0 lead. Cole Hendrickson later took it in from six yards out and the Braves were up 12-0.
