Braves netters split district contests

By Jerry W. Kram
The Parshall Braves Volleyball team earned a split with district rivals this week. The Braves were topped by the Watford City Wolves three sets to none but came back to topple the White Shield Warriors 3-0.
The Wolves came into Parshall with an undefeated record this early in the season. The Braves are rebuilding after graduating eight seniors last year, including all six starters. In the first the Braves traded side outs with the Wolves early and the score was tied at 13. But then the Wolves reeled off a series of aces and kills, dominating the rest of the set 25-15. The second set also started out close, with the Braves trailing by one at 6-5. The Wolves didn’t run away with the set, but steadily built on their lead until they were up 17-10. After that, they traded side outs with Braves to win 25-16. The Braves actually had a short lived lead in the third set at 10-9. But once more, the Wolves dominated the second part of the set win easily at 25-12.
