Braves netters trip up Eagles
By Jerry W. Kram
The Parshall Braves avenged an early season loss by pulling out a five set victory over the New Town Eagles in volleyball action in New Town.
The Eagles looked like they might cruise to an early victory, scoring the first 10 points of the match on the way to taking the first set 25-9. Parshall regrouped in the second set and played the Eagles even until the last few points and took the set 25-23. The Eagles, backed by Brooklyn Fox’s third straight 20 kill match, were too much for the Braves in the third set, going down 25-20. In the fourth set, it was the Braves who found another gear and dominated to win the set 25-16.
The final tiebreaker set was another close affair. The Eagles were up by three points before KK Fox, using an underhand serve, led the Braves to a one point lead. The Eagles tied the game at 14, but after a side out, a mishit return gave the Braves an ace and match point, winning 16-14.
