Braves open season with split

By Jerry W. Kram
The Parshall Braves boys basketball team opened their season with a loss against Des Lacs Burlington but bounced back to beat Washburn in their second game.
The Lakers downed the Braves 81-70 in the season opener in Parshall Thursday. The Braves traveled to Washburn Saturday and clipped the Cardinals’ wings 52-37.
A slow start against DL-B meant the Braves were playing catchup all night Thursday. The Lakers outscored the Braves 20-6 in the first quarter. The Braves played even with the Lakers in the second and third quarters but weren’t able to cut into DL-B’s lead. The Braves were able to score 25 points in the final quarter, but the Lakers put up 21 to win by nine.
Billy Moran led the Braves with 26 points with Kane Rabbithead adding 14 and Jaden Christianson 11. Arron Grady had 31 points for the Lakers with Josh Knutson contributing 19 and Josh Duke 15.
