By Jerry W. Kram

By the time the dust had settled it was clear which district was dominant in the Region 8 Volleyball Tournament held in New Town this week.

All four teams from District 15, including the Parshall Braves, fell to their foes from District 16 on Monday. The tournament opened with Kenmare taking on Trinity Christian, the fourth ranked team from District 15. The Honkers had little trouble with the Crusaders, winning 3-0 with scores of 25-15, 25-11 and 25-16. The Trenton Tigers, ranked second in District 15, put up more of a fight against the number 3 Ray Jays from District 16. The Tigers took the first game of the match 25-21. They pushed the Jays hard in the next three games but went down to defeat 25-20, 25-18 and 25-21.

The game of the night was a five game match between the Watford City Wolves and Burke County Titans. Watford City dominated the first two games of the match behind Kara Langerud, Ricki Lindley, and Emily Segneri. Brook Blom and Lakin Peterson pushed the Titans back into the match with a combined total of 30 kills. The Titans wound up on top with scores of 18-25, 22-25, 25-22, 27-25 and 15-7.
