Eagles netters take down Braves

By Jerry W. Kram
The New Town Eagles nailed down the second seed in District 15 volleyball by sweeping three sets from the Parshall Braves in Parshall.
“Any win against Parshall is always tough,” said Eagles Head Coach Dyan Fox. “We needed this win to nail down that second seed in district.”
The Eagles got out to a quick start by jumping out to a 6-1 lead in the first set. Parshall settled down and played the Eagles even after that, but weren’t able to get any closer than three points at 14-11. The Eagles took the set 25-20.
In the second set it was the Braves turn to have the quick start, scoring on the first four serves of the game. The Eagles roared back to tie the score at five. The game remained close and was all tied up at 18-18. The Eagles took control and served out the final seven points to win 25-18.
The Braves again took a quick lead, scoring the first six points of the third set. The Eagles slowly cut into the lead, getting to within two at 12-10. The Braves held onto that slim lead at 20-18 and looked poised to take the set when they scored to make the game 23-19. But the Eagles took control at the end of the game once more and kills by Payton Brady and Brooklyn Fox gave the set and match to the Eagles 25-23.
