Alexis Woods and Madelleine Zacher had a career day in Watford City last week, amassing 64 points to pace the junior high track team to a fourth-place finish in the Watford City Inviational.
It was Zacher who took first in the 200-meter dash, first in the 100-meter dash and second in the 400-meter dash, while Woods won the 800-meter run and the 400-meter dash, while taking second in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
“We had two girls in junior high score 64 points,” said Parshall head coach Harlan Johnson. “It was good enough for fourth place. With one other girl, we could have finished third. Unbelievable!”
Sidney, Mont., ran away with the title, scoring 131 points, followed by Williston, 74, Stanley, 69 and Parshall, 64. Watford City finished fifth with 63. Hazen came in a distant sixth.
Zacher’s and Woods’ times were as impressive as their placings. Zacher ran the 100 in 13.57 seconds, while Woods ran it in 13.84 seconds. Zacher’s time in the 200-meter was 29.04 seconds, followed by Woods with 29.79 seconds.
