Injuries stymie Braves football team
By Jerry W. Kram
The Parshall Braves kept it close for a half against the Dunseith Dragons, but conditioning and injuries thinned their ranks. The final score ended up being a lopsided 41-6 Dragons victory.
Turnovers played a major role in the Parshall defeat. The Dragons scored first in the opening quarter with a 55 yard interception return for a touchdown by Sky Davis. A fumble led to another Dragons scoring drive ending with a 12 yard pass play early in the second quarter. Parshall came back with a long drive in the second quarter, topped of by a five yard touchdown run by Jeff Hall to pull within a touchdown at 12-6 at halftime.
The Braves had several good runs in second half from quarterback Justin Roberts and running backs Jeff Hall and Jay Felix. However, a half dozen fumbles snuffed out most the team's promising drives. In the second half three players had to come off the field with cramps and two others were injured, forcing Head Coach Mark Grueniech to substitute his younger players. Without the Braves starters in the game, Parshall gave up four second half touchdowns.
