Lady Braves down Eagles, prepare for Wolves

Parshall girls reach region finals for third time in four years

The Parshall Braves will compete in their third Region 8 Girls Basketball Tournament final in the last three years against the Watford City Wolves at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Braves earned their spot in the final with a dominating 79-56 win over Ray Jays in the opening round and a hard fought 57-50 win over the New Town Eagles in the semifinal. The Wolves’ trip to the final saw them win 79-31 over the Burke County Titans and a 69-16 demolition of the Trenton Tigers. Trenton reached the semifinal with a last second shot that gave them their only lead of the game over the Divide County Maroons, 46-44.

The Braves did not play their best game of the season against the Eagles, said Parshall Head Coach Mervin Packineau. The game was marked with many missed shots and turnovers.

"We played good at times and played pretty bad at times," Coach Packineau said. "If we would have made half our shots right under the basket, that would have been another 20 points right there. We missed a lot of easy shots right around the basket. We usually don’t miss those shots."
