Lady Braves fall short against Shilo

The Parshall Braves are in the middle of the meat of their season, taking on some of the toughest teams in North Dakota Class B Girls Basketball. In the last few games they handed Trenton just its third loss on the year and whipped a previously unbeaten Garrison squad. But they were on the losing end against a versatile Shilo Christian team, 65-40, in Parshall on Saturday. Head Coach Mervin Packineau said the loss wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, since it showed the team how much work they had to do if the girls want to do well come tournament time.
"This game was kind of a wake up call for us," Coach Packineau said. "We want to play teams like this to see where we are at. Tonight they outhustled and outplayed us. Hopefully we will get our mind right and turn it around and be ready for them. A loss doesn’t hurt this time of the year. We reeled off about 10 straight wins, so as long as we learn from this, it won’t hurt us."
The Skyhawks had too many weapons for the Braves, who both out shot and out rebounded the Braves. Coach Packineau said Shilo shut down the Braves inside game to a large extent and the Braves outside shots were going in.
