Lady Braves fall to powerhouse Lions

The Parshall Braves Girls Basketball Team gave a valiant effort against the number one ranked Bishop Ryan Lions in Parshall on Saturday, but were outclassed with their top scoring threat Cheyenne Packineau on the bench with a knee injury.
"We only had nine players out there because of injuries," said Head Coach Mervin Packineau. "We have a couple of players who are just coming off of injuries too. But give us a few days off and hopefully by districts we will be 100 percent."
Still, the Braves can point to some positives in the game, including the fact that they the only team to score more than 50 points against the Lions juggernaut this year except for Watford City and Class A Fargo Shanley. But without Cheyenne Packineau’s offense and defense, the Braves were unable to slow down Ryan’s twin towers of Gabbie Bohl and Hannah Stewart and fell by a score of 94-51.
Stewart and Bohl combined to open the game a quick lead, but the Braves fought back and pulled within one point at 12-11. But the Lions closed out the first quarter strong with Bohl and Stewart scoring 19 of the team’s 25 points for a 25-18 lead.
"The girls played hard the first quarter," said Head Coach Mervin Packineau. "The second quarter, we missed a few three point shots so it could have been even closer going into halftime. We were missing our leading rebounder and it really hurt us tonight. The other girls picked it up and we made a lot of defensive stops. We kept pushing the ball, and with a basket here and a rebound there, it could have been a lot closer."
