Lady Braves in rebuilding mode

After graduating six seniors and most of its starting lineup, Head Coach Nick Ator knew this would be a rebuilding year for the Parshall Braves girls basketball team. He saw how far the team has to go after a 60-25 trouncing by the fourth ranked Thompson Tommies at the Shootout on the Prairie event in Minot on Friday.
"Thompson is a very good team and a very experienced team," Ator said. "They main thing we wanted to do is play hard. I think we played harder in the second half. I thought we played OK in the first half, but we couldn’t get a shot. That hurt our confidence."
Parshall scored the first points of the game, but then the Tommies went on a 16 point run that quickly put the game out of reach. After the first quarter the score was 18-6. The Tommies defense dominated the second quarter and the halftime score was 39-8.
"We had mental errors," Ator said. "A lot of it was Thompson’s defense, but some of it was us. We have some inexperienced players that we think are capable. It’s early in the year and we are playing like a team that needs some work. It is a rebuilding year."
